Acting is one of my favorite things and that is why I have been doing it in high school for four years now.  Attending theatre day at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is something I took upon myself to attend to further myself as an actor.  I also will most likely attend EMU after high school and this was a great opportunity for me to see the facilities that I will be using in my educational future.  I believe that I am a good actor, yet I am always looking to expand my horizons and become the best I can best I possibly can. 

It is something am very passionate about and by going to EMU’s theatre day I (P108) went beyond what was asked to improve my educational projects.  While I was there I learned a lot of ways to improve my acting abilities.  One and probably the most helpful workshop was the auditions workshop.  There we were given a small excerpt from a monologue and told to deliver it by using a certain verb.  I chose an excerpt from A Street Car Named Desire and I read as Blanche.  I then chose the verb expose and I delivered the lines as if I was in an audition.  After the first read they critiqued me and gave helpful tips to improve my audition and I learned a lot from it.  Not only did theatre day help me as an actor but it also gave me a look at the facilities I will most likely be using as I move into the next step of my educational career.  I will most likely attend EMU and a lot of the facilities that I saw will be where I do most of my studies for my career field.  It was a good chance for me to experience the atmosphere and thoroughly prepare myself for what is to come.

Things in life will never just come and give themselves to you; it is your responsibility to go out there and expand yourself, by going beyond what is expected.  As an art director going beyond what is necessary is a way to show everyone that you do the best work possible and it makes your business even more successful.  People will see that you will bend over backwards to get them the best product and they will come you.  As of right now college is something that is extremely expensive and I should take every chance to put myself above others, not only to be accepted to schools but to also receive money to go to school, in the form of scholarships.
