Skill:                           P103: Meet school and/or work deadlines.

 

This year has been filled with deadlines and important ones at that.  College applications have taken over a huge part of my life.  As soon as I finish one there is another waiting right behind it.  I have not been late with one yet and that has allowed me to be accepted to multiple colleges.  Each has its own specific deadline and needed information making each one a separate challenge.

 

The Common Application was probably the most challenging of all the applications.  It made me work hard to get around everything I needed for it.  I had to fill out two separate applications to apply to one school.  I had to research which school within the University of Michigan I had to apply to and I had to choose my studies of interest.  I then had to find three people to write me letters of recommendation.  I had to go out and ask each person individually if they would and if they said yes I had to go back and enter in all of their information so they could do it.  After completing all of that I still had to type three essays.  I typed two of them and I had them proof read by multiple people the very next day, so I could get them submitted.  Then I typed the third and longest essay and had it proof read the next so I could finish my application.  I finished it with time to spare, before November 1, so I could be eligible for early action.  This is a perfect example of me (P103) meeting school deadlines.

 

Deadlines are firm and if you do not finish within them, you could lose out on many opportunities.  It is expected that you finish on time or people will begin to lose faith in you and you will lose your credibility.  As an Art Director deadlines are everything; when your client asks for something to be done by a certain date, it better be done or you may never work again.  If clients cannot trust you to get things done on time then they will not hire you and you will not be able to be successful in your career.  Right now my life is all deadlines and if I do not meet them I will not earn the grade that I need.  I will also lose out on a lot of opportunities that make my future bright.
