Whenever someone needs help and you have the ability to help them you have to be there.  It is not a question of if you should it is how can I help them.  Volunteering is a great way to help out the people of your community.  I will admit that I did not volunteer much, but then after I joined the National Honor Society (NHS) it became something I enjoy and do frequently.

I enjoy helping people, not because I feel bad or for any reason like that, I do it because it is the right thing to do.  I also know that there are people out there who would help me if I need it so I make myself available to help anyone so that no matter who you are you can have someone that you can count on.  In the NHS we are required to volunteer for at least four hours a month.  This is a very reasonable thing and I believe if everyone did this we could improve our world exponentially.  One of the ways I am volunteering currently is baking goods for the blood drives.  I will be baking cookies for the blood drive so that those who can give blood can do so without feeling completely ill.  I myself would give blood if I was able to but unfortunately I cannot.  I do not weigh enough to be able to give blood without making myself very sick.  That would not stop me though from helping in every way that I can.  This may seem like something small, but that is because that is only one small part of all of the volunteering I do.

It is important to help your fellow man in any way you can.  If we all help each other in our hardest times we can live more successful lives.  In my career every one of my employees or employers will need help at one point or another, and I will always be there to lend a hand so that we can be successful in our work and live fulfilling lives.  Right now helping people is building strong relationships.  These strong relationships let me know that when I need help I will have people to count on.
